Draining Water from a Top-Loading Washing Machine
Step 1: Turn Off and Unplug
Start by turning off your washing machine. Also, unplug it from the wall to ensure safety.
Step 2: Remove the Lint Trap
Inside the machine, there’s a thing called the lint trap. You’ll find it in the drum where you put your clothes. Take it out.
Step 3: Find the Drain Hose
Now, let’s find the drain hose. It’s usually at the back of the washing machine. Look for a flexible tube.
Step 4: Get a Bucket Ready, if required
Usually to load washing will drain water through the drain pipe. But if you want to monitor the clogged water, you may need a bucket right under the drain hose.
Step 5: Open the Drain Hose Valve
Get a screwdriver and remove the back panel on your top load washing machine. There is a valve on the drain hose. Turn it to the open position. It is mostly a spring loaded valve. This will allow the water to flow out.
Step 6: Let the Water Flow
Wait for the water to flow from the hose into the bucket. Be patient; it might take a few minutes.
Step 7: Close the Drain Hose Valve
When all the water is in the bucket, close the valve on the drain hose.
Step 8: Put Back the Lint Trap
Don’t forget to put the lint trap back where you found it.

Draining Water from a Front-Loading Washing Machine
Step 1: Turn Off and Unplug

Step 6: Open the Drain Pump Filter
Now, turn the drain pump filter counterclockwise to open it. This will allow the water to flow out.
Step 7: Close the Drain Pump Filter
Once all the water has drained into the bucket, turn the drain pump filter clockwise to close it tightly.
Step 8: Put Back the Drain Pump Filter
Don’t forget to put the drain pump filter back where you found it.
Outlet pipe is the dirtiest member of washing machine. You should be changing it frequently for safer environment at home.
